Stockport County Community Foundation scores another year of support from Midshire

Midshire is delighted to confirm that it will continue its sponsorship of Stockport County Community Foundation’s Schools Coaching Programme.

The Foundation works to give Stockport County Football Club a profile outside of Edgeley Park. Working with the community since 1992, the Foundation is completely self-funded, relying on sponsors and outside funding to continue its community initiatives.

The Schools Coaching programme works with schools in Stockport, Tameside and High Peak to deliver structured sports sessions to children of all ages and abilities. The main aim of the programme is to engage with as many primary school children in the community as possible, and give them the opportunity to take park in physical sporting activities. The coaching is delivered throughout the academic year by a team of qualified sports coaches. They liaise with each school individually in order to deliver fun, challenging and inspiring sports lessons throughout the academic year.

Stockport County player Lewis Montrose and Manager James Gannon are two of the twenty coaches helping to deliver the Midshire Schools Coaching Programme. As a local office technology supplier, Midshire is pleased to be able to support the Foundation with their work in the Stockport area.

The scope of work has expanded and the Foundation has recently set-up further pan-disability sessions along with weekly walking football sessions for the over 50s to reach out to all members of the community.

As part of the sponsorship, Midshire’s logo will feature across the front of the staff kit and on the Foundation vehicles.

Midshire’s sponsorship of Stockport County Community Foundation will continue from September 2016 and run for the following academic year.

Midshire Managing Director Julian Stafford comments, ‘The sponsorship of the Foundation is something I really enjoy supporting. Working with young people to develop skills such as communication and teamwork as well as educating them on fitness will really help them later in life. You just need to look at the developments of the last 12 months to see how impressive their work is.’
