Industry leading office technology sales and service provider Midshire continues to build on its green credentials with the installation of solar panels at its site in West Bromwich, West Midlands.Solar Panels

Following on from its relocation to purpose designed premises in November 2014, Midshire was keen to develop its environmental initiatives, whilst also working to reduce its power consumption expenses.

Working with Midlands based renewable energy provider Quantum Energy Systems, Midshire approved the project to secure 192 solar panels onto its expansive roof space.

The £65,000 investment included the installation of 192 260W panels, 16kW inverters and 192 Solaredge optimisers. This system manages not only the overall panel output but also each individual solar panel, ensuring that Midshire gains the most out of every panel fitted.

Since the installation at the end of 2015, Midshire has saved 485kg in CO2 and generated enough power to run 3,753 lightbulbs for a day. The panels continue to produce electricity throughout the winter months.

Even in the short time that the panels have been active, Midshire has reduced its office carbon footprint and dependence on grid electricity, whilst also reducing its energy costs.

Phil Powell, Midshire Managing Director comments, “At Midshire we are well aware of our impact on the environment and we are actively exploring all avenues in order to reduce this impact. The implementation of the solar panels has been a significant investment, but one which in the long term will benefit the business and reduce our reliance on grid electricity.”

Midshire was one of the first independent resellers in the UK to achieve the ISO 14001 accreditation. This standard recognises the company’s efforts to reduce the environmental impact of its activities and encompasses all aspects of day-to-day operations.

As well as reducing its own carbon footprint, Midshire also helps its customers to reduce their impact through the products and services it provides.  Some of the initiatives include, PaperCut Software to manage print output and the E-Line range of refurbished photocopiers

Darren Horton, Systems Compliance Manager describes Midshire’s current environmental credentials: “We comply with all of the necessary environmental standards and are proud to hold ISO 14001 for our environmental management system. I am delighted that Midshire continues to implement new projects which help to continually reduce our impact on the environment and create sustainability for the future.”

Midshire is proud of its green credentials and continues to strive to reduce its impact on the environment.
