Midshire Supports Movember 2013

Posted on

10 of Midshire’s men have taken up the Movember challenge and are growing a moustache for the 30-days of November, to raise both funds and awareness for prostate and testicular cancer and mental health.

Movember is a global movement. With its origins in Melbourne, Australia, it began in 2003 and is now an annual event across 21 countries.

Headed by Chris Warburton from the Warehouse and Distribution department, the Midshire “Ron Burgundy Wannabes” came to work on Monday 1st November, clean-shaven and ready for tIMG_2975he month ahead.

Chris says “I lost my mum to cancer 36 years ago and 2 years ago my brother developed bowel cancer, and subsequently needed surgery. I have a mutated gene called FAPS, which means I have near 100% chance of developing bowel cancer unless I have surgery. This is my motivation, and if something as simple as growing a moustache can help raise awareness and funds for male related cancer, then I’ll wear it with pride”.

The women in the office are also supporting the Movember challenge, and will be donning their stick-on moustaches whenever possible to help keep the guys motivated.
