Midshire Supports MMU’s ‘Print Tech Day’ Education Event
Leading office technology provider Midshire® has supported Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), taking part in the University’s inaugural ‘Print Tech Day’, exhibiting the latest in print technology.
Hosted by the Print Services department in the John Dalton Shed, the event took place on Friday 31st of March. Key suppliers of MMU were on hand to demonstrate 2D and 3D print technologies to a number of delegates from a number of organisations that support print departments in schools and universities.
A HP Gold Partner and Technical Production Specialist, Midshire installed several HP DesignJet T3500 large format printers and bespoke self-service touch-screen kiosks into MMU’s Print Services department in 2015. The devices are maintained and serviced by Midshire via an ink inclusive contract; a managed print service contract specifically for large format devices.
Delegates included the Association of Print and Communication Managers (APCOM), the Association of Creative Print Managers in Education (ACPME), and the North-West Universities Purchasing Consortium (NWUPC). The delegates explored the emerging technologies that are currently flooding the higher education creative and print market.
MMU’s Print Services Manager comments: “We’ve been wanting to organise an open day that showcases the campus’ print technologies for some years now. With the amazing advancements in both 2D and 3D printing, there was no better time to host an event.”
He continues: “We aimed to get people together from other education institutes to discuss the challenges faced by the education sector such as budgetary restraints, how these are affecting us, and how we’re meeting them head on.
We also wanted to inform people about our strategic partners like Midshire, who help keep technology at the forefront of education, which is really important.”
Midshire’s experts were on hand throughout the day to demonstrate the latest technologies on the market, including the new RISO A2 Duplicator, the Sharp MX-3070N photocopier and the latest Sharp BigPad PN70SC3 interactive touchscreen.

Linked up to a high-speed Sharp MX-3070N multifunction printer, the Midshire team highlighted the importance of inter-connectivity between classroom devices, demonstrating the ability to effortlessly print and scan between the two devices.
