Midshire supports festive fundraiser for the elderly of Solihull
Employees at local office technology provider Midshire, have come together to support its customer, Coleshill Heath School, by donating dozens of hampers to the Friends of North Solihull’s Christmas Hamper Appeal.
The annual campaign reaches out to the elderly and vulnerable members of the community, who may not have friends and family around during the Christmas season. Food parcels and festive presents in the form of Christmas hampers are distributed, with a personalised Christmas card, giving the recipients a reason to smile.
This year’s donations were co-ordinated by Midshire’s customer of over 7 years Coleshill Heath School, who aimed to get junior schools and businesses within the local community to contribute.
Coordinated by Midshire’s Group Customer Service Manager Joanne Palmer, she comments: “We believe that no one should be unhappy or feel alone at Christmas. This appeal is particularly important for the elderly as it can be hard for them to feel included, and just a small act of kindness can help to make their Christmas a special one.”
Midshire’s hampers were taken from Coleshill Heath and dropped off at The Onward Club, a member only bar in Chelmsley Wood on the 10th December. The hampers were then distributed by the Solihull Council Neighbourhood Services, West Midlands Fire Services, West Midlands Police, Age UK Solihull, and the Bosworth Community Centre.
Danny Walden, Midshire’s Regional Sales Manager has commented: “I was completely in the dark regarding our involvement in any appeal this year, so when our service team informed me that it was Coleshill Heath that we were supporting, and to the level we were getting involved I was so excited to surprise them.”
The appeal has seen over 200 hampers donated so far, with 80 being generously given by Midshire.
When talking about the donations this year a spokesperson from The Friends of North Solihull has said: “We are so overwhelmed at the generosity and kindness of everyone that helped us achieve this, with a special thank you to Midshire.”
No stranger to charitable ventures, Midshire organised a superhero themed fancy dress coffee morning earlier this year in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The event turned out to be a huge success, raising a total of £1,205.19 for the charity.
