Midshire Sees BHF Science in Action

National managed print service provider Midshire® is thrilled to announce that on Tuesday 2ndJuly its staff were invited to a supporter event held by its chosen charity of the year, The British Heart Foundation (BHF).
Midshire staff joined over 60 delegates at the University of Manchester, where they received informative talks on where their money is channelled, a tour of the state-of-the-art laboratories, and thanked for their support thus far.
BHF Fundraising Manager for Greater Manchester East, Natalie Bunyan said:“The Heart Foundation is entirely reliant on fundraising, we get no government funding. This means we are wholly dependent on the people and businesses like Midshire to support us nationwide.”
In all, through its various initiatives over the past 12 months, Midshire has raised over £7,000 for the BHF. Staff have walked up Kinder Scout with their families, ran the Wilmslow festive 10k, carried out bake sales, organised a Midshire-customer Golf Day, and completed a coast-to-coast-and-back static bike ride of 290 miles.
The supporter event kicked off with a hard-hitting talk from BHF CEO Simon Gillespie, who spoke about his own experience with Familial Hypercholesterolemia, and thanked everyone for their continued efforts. Professors that benefit from BHF funding at the University of Manchester followed with interesting talks around the science behind their research, and an exciting tour of the laboratories concluded the day.
Natalie Bunyan continued:“It was really important for us to show our supporters what they’re helping to achieve, and everyone said the tour was incredibly interesting, which is fantastic!
“Every little really does help locally, but also with the global effort into heart and circulatory disease research. I’d like to thank everyone for raising whatever they can, your support brings our goal to beat heartbreak forever closer every year. Thank you!”
