Midshire becomes the ‘One Stop’ supplier for Print Solutions

There’s no stopping Midshire, as they install the largest first-to-market fleet of Ricoh GELJET^TM printers for One Stop Stores.

Office technology sales and service provider Midshire, has won the contract to supply a record number of revolutionary Ricoh GELJET^TM printers to One Stop Stores – the largest UK installation of its kind.

One Stop Stores were looking to review its entire fleet of printers across its chain of retail convenience stores and looking into new print solutions available on the market. Already a happy Midshire customer for over 7 years, with over 20 Ricoh multifunctional photocopiers installed at its head office, One Stop Stores naturally approached Midshire to propose a solution.

Danny Walden, Midshire Regional Sales Manager explains why the Ricoh GELJET^TM was the ideal solution for One Stop “We were delighted to be approached by One Stop to identify a new solution for its convenience stores. Working with Amanda Sanderson we were able to successfully review the existing solution, survey employees and address a number of issues causing day-to-day problems for One Stop.

The stores were experiencing a variety of issues with the old solution. There were long periods of downtime, paper jams, machines overheating, multiple re-prints and wasted print, even finding somewhere to locate the printers was a problem because of their size.”

The products were successfully trialled in 12 stores across 3 regions, with no downtime and no negative feedback received. With over 10,000 employees across the UK the impact this new product will have on both employees and the business is huge.

The Ricoh GELJET^TM printer uses fast-drying viscous, pigment-based liquid gel technology to deliver high-quality black and white prints. Because the liquid gel dries instantly, it means high-speed ‘duplex’ printing on both sides of a sheet, at a fast 20 pages per minute.

The front-loading device has a quick start-up time and energy-saving technology, meaning the printer is ready to start printing from sleep mode almost immediately, taking only 35 seconds to warm up and with a first print available in less than 5.5 seconds.

Amanda Sanderson, Corporate Purchasing for One Stop Stores, comments on the project“We approached Midshire last year to help us implement a new managed print service for our ever-expanding chain of over 900 convenience stores across the UK.

The Ricoh devices recommended by Midshire were chosen because of their ease of use, low maintenance, green impact, print quality and time saving features.

As well as saving staff time and space in store, the environmental aspect was a key consideration for me when working on the project. The sizeable reduction in power consumption significantly lowered our overall carbon footprint, which was an important factor.”

 

In comparison to the previous devices, the Ricoh SGK3100 mono GELJET^TM printer will considerably reduce the power consumption of the entire printer fleet. This reduction in the organisation’s carbon footprint is equivalent to saving an impressive 378 trees each year.

The annual maintenance costs required to support the fleet would also be reduced, as the product is so easy to operate and maintain.
