Midlands Business Awards 2015 – The Results

Posted on

On Friday 20th February, members of the Midshire management and service team attended the ninth annual Midlands Business Awards ceremony, held at the Hilton Metropole hotel in Birmingham.

The awards ceremony showcases finest business talent across the whole of the Midlands and is an important annual fixture in the business calendar for the region. Each of the 14 categories ranging from entrepreneur of the year, service provider of the year to university of the year, are whittled down to just 5 finalists out of hundreds of entries.

The evening began with speeches from past winners, before the three-course meal and then the much anticipated award ceremony. Harj Sandher, organiser of the evening introduced the awards and welcomed the presenter of the evening, BBC Midlands Today Presenter – Nick Owen.

Midshire was nominated in two categories: Service Provider of the Year (£1m+) and Business Person of the Year, for Managing Director, Phil Powell.

It was a great privilege to make the shortlist in both categories. The competition was fiercely strong and unfortunately Midshire missed out on taking home an award on this occasion.

Midshire has been based in the Birmingham region for 25 years, and has recently completed its move to a brand new site in West Bromwich. Phil Powell was nominated as Business Person of the Year as the driving force behind the growth and expansion of the business, into a £24 m turnover organisation with 4 regional offices. Growth has been strong year on year, and the organisation now employs over 200 staff, with over half based in the Midlands region.

This type of growth and commitment to customer service can only be maintained with a dedicated and experienced service team. Midshire has developed a number of new service strategies to increasing the time between call outs, as well as new procedures to ensure quality work delivered first time; providing customers with only the best service.

Midshire Marketing Manager Adrienne Topping commented:

‘We all had a fantastic time at the awards ceremony. This is the first time that we have entered such prestigious awards in the Midlands region, and I am delighted that we were shortlisted in not just one, but two categories and out of hundreds of other well-known and well respected organisations.

Putting the applications together really highlighted to me how much Midshire has achieved in 25 years. We will build on this nomination for future success. The Midlands Business Awards have been an exciting experience, and we are looking forward to further progressing the business… and perhaps entering more awards!’
