Impressive growth prompts head office move
After several years of consistent growth and success, Midshire Business Systems is pleased to announce the expansion and relocation of its headquarters to a larger site in West Bromwich.
Led by Managing Director Phil Powell, the head office currently operates from Nechells, Birmingham. After a hugely successful 2013, which saw the launch of IT services and new products added to their already diverse portfolio, Midshire has taken on over 28 new employees within the last 12 months alone; with group turnover anticipated to exceed £23 million this financial year. The increase in staff takes the total number of employees to 183, leaving the current office and workshop space both exhausted.
After an involved tender process operated by construction consultants Wakemans Limited, Midshire Business Systems has appointed Leamington Spa based construction company Intex Projects Ltd as the successful contractor to build and refurbish Midshire’s new Head Office in Doranda Way, West Bromwich (less than 6 miles away from the existing offices on Cato Street).
The new 1.2-acre site currently has a 20,000 square foot warehouse and parking for 100 cars but is in need of considerable investment in its refurbishment and expansion up to 25,000 square feet.
The development aim is to create a modern, flexible and professional environment, whilst ensuring that the increasing warehousing requirements are met. This multi-million pound move will give staff greater flexibility and scope for on-site demonstrations, with multiple meeting rooms and conferencing facilities available.
Having purchased the new building, Midshire will also be refreshing its corporate identity. The combined office relocation and re-brand has given the company a valuable opportunity to take a look at the business as a whole. Midshire Business Systems, Midshire Northern and Midshire Telecom will become one, with the new strap line ‘technology for your office’ used to better reflect its strong presence in the UK technology sector. Partner company and industry leader in the legal telecommunications sector, LegalTX will also be involved in the move with all 23 employees relocating to the new site.
A new website and marketing materials will be launched to combine all aspects of the business and drive further success for the independent supplier.
Sales Director Kevin Tunley comments
‘This is a very exciting time for everyone at Midshire. Relocating is an important part of our continued growth strategy. Our industry is constantly evolving and we have to change with it in order to remain competitive. We are known for our printers and photocopiers but now we are able to offer products such as interactive touchscreens, tablet technology and 3D printers. We’ve taken on more staff to grow and up-skill our team to support these developments.
We are always on the lookout for exceptional people in sales and service because we have incredibly high standards to maintain, in order to remain at the forefront of what we do. Our new home in West Bromwich will inspire our people as well as provide career development opportunities, allowing them to grow and thrive.’
Birmingham based Wakemans were appointed to draw up a tender for the project to design a two-storey office extension and the complete refurbishment of the existing building.
Charles Wolverson of Intex said ‘We are very much looking forward to working with Midshire on this exciting project and the finished product will be of a very high standard and will provide flexible and professional quality office space for Midshire’s growing number of employees.’
Managing Director Phil Powell says,
“I am pleased to announce this exciting development in Midshire’s history and would like to thank our employees and customers for their continued loyalty and support in our growth as we move forward.”
Building work has just started and the project is expected to last for 20 weeks with a total budget exceeding £2.2 million.
