Netball Unites Charity Evening
Midshire was very pleased to attend the inaugural Netball Unites charity evening at Hotel Football in aid of Cancer Research and Mind.
Midshire has a long history of netball sponsorship, and is currently the headline sponsor of Manchester Thunder, the north west’s top team. Midshire was keen to support the event and happily provided print sponsorship.
As the official print sponsor for the event Midshire has supplied all printed material, including: posters, tickets and the evening programme.
The charity evening was the idea of Sara Bayman, who wanted to create an event off the court. Supported by the England netball team and top sports women from a range of sports, the night was a huge success.
The evening began with a drinks reception in the rooftop bar overlooking the Old Trafford ground and was followed by an excellent three-course meal.
As well as singing from Paul Pashley, there was a packed auction offering prizes such as tickets to Soccer AM, a coaching session with an England netball player and a sports psychology session. Tickets to Manchester United’s first match of the next season were the star prize, reaching bids up to £400.
A real highlight was the question and answer session with a panel of guests from the sports world. Lizzy Yarnold, Perri Shakes-Drayton, Tamara Taylor and Pamela Cookey took questions from the audience, covering their careers, superstitions and injury issues.
The event raised thousands of pounds for two charities, Cancer Research UK and Mind. Cancer Research UK is a world leader, dedicated to fighting all 200 types of cancer. Mind is one of the foremost mental health charities, proving advice and support to those experiencing a mental health problem.
Midshire sponsors many local sports teams and organisations: Manchester Thunder netball team, Stockport Metro swimming club and Stockport County Community Foundation and helps to promote sport across the region.
