#BusinessOfTheWeek: Sky Blues In The Community
This week our Business Of The Week is Sky Blues in the Community, an organisation creating community initiatives within the Coventry and Warwickshire areas.
The organisation was first set up to deliver football community initiatives on behalf of Coventry City Football Club. However, it has changed considerably since its foundations to now drive a full range of community and personal development initiatives in the local area.
The Sky Blues in the Community mission statement is:
‘To create opportunities through sport and recreation to engage, motivate and inspire people from all sections of our community, helping them to fulfil their potential.’
Key facts:
– Sky Blues in the Community was formed in 1993.
– The organisation became a registered charity in 2008.
– Four key values: sport, health, education and inclusion
Sky Blues in the Community has also worked hard to promote disability sport in the Coventry and Warwickshire region, and is now one of the leading providers. A grant from the Football Foundation has helped to increase the number of sessions available and range of activities offered.
Midshire has worked with the Sky Blues since February 2013 when a photocopier was installed to the office. Midshire Regional Account Manager Danny Walden has worked closely with the charity since that time. In addition to providing a photocopier, Midshire has also worked with the Sky Blues to develop a new, responsive website. This type of website gives excellent viewing on desktops, laptops, tablets and mobile.
Midshire now sponsors the Sky Blues with events, and has recently sponsored the new speed shot inflatable goal.
Midshire Regional Account Manager, Danny Walden commented,
“Being a local lad, and supporting Coventry city FC since I was 6 years old- being able to help out the Sky Blues in the Community is fantastic. It has really given me an insight into all the wonderful work they do in our community; they do an amazing job for us all here in Coventry and Warwickshire.”
