Midshire shows support for St Ann’s Hospice
This year Midshire will be supporting St Ann’s Hospice with their Midnight Walk, which is set to take place on the evening of Friday 20th June 2014.
The 8th annual Manchester Midnight Walk is hoping to emulate the success of last year, which raised an impressive £226,000. Thousands of attendees are expected to complete the event in order to raise funds for the hospice. The walk starts from Manchester Central and will cover a distance of 10 km, taking in many of Manchester’s famous sites. Once the walk is completed entrants will be able to collect a medal as a souvenir of the event.

The hospice needs to raise the equivalent of £16,000 per day to continue helping those affected by cancer and other life limiting diseases. Currently, the hospice helps 3,000 people per year free of charge. A third of funding comes from the NHS, but the remainder comes from kind donations.
St Ann’s hospice offers three types of support: inpatient admissions, day therapy, and community services. Those referred to the hospice are assessed and a care programme organised to manage individual needs. The hospice also works hard to support the families and friends of patients.
Midshire is supporting the Midnight Walk by supplying two multi-functional Lexmark desktop devices and two laptops. Two volunteers from Midshire, IT apprentices Jordan Walker and Kimberley Garlick will be assisting the St Ann’s team print, scan and store entry forms at the start of the walk.
Midshire has supported St Ann’s Hospice in the past. In previous years Midshire has sponsored the annual Christmas carol concert.
Organiser Marie Steele, Fundraising Officer at St Ann’s Hospice said,
‘We’d like to thank Midshire Business Systems for their generous support of the Manchester Midnight Walk, and this is another example of how the business community is helping our charity in so many different ways. The walk will be a fantastic occasion and we’d encourage anyone thinking of taking part to get in touch with us.’
To take part in the walk, contact the fundraising team on 0161 498 3631. Registration costs £18, or £15 for previous walkers. The fee is reduced to £10 for those aged between 11 and 17.
As a technology supplier, Midshire is able to loan printing equipment, such as desktop printers in order to support events. Presentation equipment, such as the Sharp Big Pad is also available for hire.
Midshire Managing Director, Julian Stafford said,
‘We are always keen to support local charities, and have sponsored St Ann’s hospice in the past. The Midnight Walk is the hospice’s flagship event and a fun occasion. We are pleased that we have been able to support St Ann’s Hospice with printing and scanning equipment, and look forward to working with them in the future.’
