Is it a Bird? Is it a Plane? No, it’s a Copier on a Crane!
National managed print service provider Midshire® is excited to share that on Wednesday 29th May its logistics team went ‘above and beyond’, ensuring its latest machine move was delivered efficiently and effectively.
Carried out for long-time customer Renaker Build Ltd, three Midshire employees used a crane to lift a Sharp MX-4140 from the construction company’s Manchester City Centre site on Chester Road, to River View on New Bailey Street.
Solutions Systems Integrator at Midshire, Adam Taylor was leading the move, he said: “I’ve been networking Renaker’s machines since 2016, we’re always moving their machines from one building site to another as they get completed, it’s just the nature of what they do.”
A customer since 2016, Renaker have been enriching Manchester’s skyline for over 13 years. Current projects include those at Chester Road, Crown Street, and Deansgate Square, and a planned development on Great Jackson Street, which will see the formation of 25 skyscrapers.
Adam continued: “Hefty office equipment can be difficult to navigate around narrow, half-finished stairways and porta cabins, so someone suggested putting the machine in a tonne bag designed to lift JCB’s and craning it over! In all my years working at Midshire, everybody’s ‘can do’ attitude and ability to think outside the box never ceases to amaze me.”
Julian Stafford, Managing Director at Midshire said: “We’ve always had to do tricky machine moves, and I’m very happy to see our specialists doing whatever it takes to get the job done properly! I think they were in and out in under an hour which is fantastic.”
With Renaker’s next phase due for completion in the coming weeks, the craned-in photocopier shall fly again!
