Multifunction Photocopier
A multifunction photocopier (MFP), also known as a multifunction device or all-in-one printer, is a desktop or free-standing device that has multiple functions. Capable of: printing, copying, scanning and faxing, these devices remove the need for offices to have multiple devices for different functionalities. They are space saving and energy efficient machines that cater for all your business’ printing needs in one place.
There are two main types of multifunction photocopiers – laser and ink-jet. Laser multifunction devices are ideal for companies that want to produce large volumes of text based documents, whereas ink-jet devices are more suited to companies that need high quality colour graphics.
Multifunction devices tend to have a standard resolution of 600×600 dpi, which is adequate for most printing, unless you are wanting to produce photographs. There are some devices that have higher resolutions, for those that require it.
These digital machines are constantly evolving, with Wi-Fi printing, mobile printing, scan to email and large tablet-style interfaces making offices ultra-efficient.
The only negative associated with multifunction photocopiers is that if the unit fails, you lose all 4 functions. However, with a Midshire managed print service, our service engineers will get you up and running again quickly, with our 4-hour response rate.
